Rigging Capability
Specialized Heavy Lifting
Why Pianos & Safes Require Real Moving Specialists
An upright piano weighs between 400 and 800 pounds, while baby grands and large gun safes exceed 1,000 pounds. Attempting to move them with untrained labor or generic moving equipment risks severe personal injury, broken floors, and irreparable structural damage to your instrument.
Many general movers in Phoenix either refuse to move pianos or arrive unprepared—forcing an instrument onto a cheap dolly or tipping it awkwardly around tight hallway corners. Other companies quote a standard hourly rate and then hit you with a surprise $250 "heavy surcharge" once your items are loaded.
Diverse Moving Solutions operates with dedicated heavy-item gear: reinforced hardwood piano boards, high-tensile locking e-track straps, non-marring rubber casters, and thick floor runners. We evaluate your stairs, doorways, and path in advance so moving day is calm, controlled, and scratch-free.

Got Questions?
Frequently Asked Questions: Piano & Heavy Item Moving
Essential details on preparing, protecting, and moving heavy instruments and equipment in Phoenix.
Can you move baby grand and grand pianos in the Phoenix area?
Yes. Our specialized heavy-item crews are trained in baby grand and grand piano logistics. We carefully disassemble the lyre and legs, blanket-wrap all surfaces in heavy-duty moving pads, secure the instrument to an engineered wooden piano skid board, and transport it on non-marring four-wheel dollies.
How do you protect hardwood, travertine, and tile floors when moving a heavy piano or safe?
Pianos and heavy safes weigh between 400 and 1,000+ pounds. To prevent floor cracking or scratching, we lay thick neoprene floor runners and heavy-duty masonite protection paths across all hardwood, tile, and stone surfaces from the room all the way to our truck lift gate.
Do you move heavy gun safes, fireproof cabinets, and marble tables?
Yes. In addition to acoustic and digital pianos, Diverse Moving Solutions regularly moves residential gun safes (up to 800 lbs), commercial fireproof filing cabinets, heavy marble-top dining tables, and large armoires across Greater Phoenix with proper rigging straps and heavy-duty dollies.
Are there surprise charges for stairs or multi-level heavy item moves?
No. Many Phoenix moving companies quote a deceptively low initial rate and then spring $150 to $300 stair fees on moving day. Diverse Moving Solutions asks for your exact stair count, landing turns, and path obstacles in advance, providing a 100% transparent, all-inclusive written estimate.
Will my piano need to be tuned after moving?
While our gentle moving techniques and air-ride padded transport minimize mechanical vibrations, any acoustic piano moved between different humidity and temperature environments in Arizona should rest in its new room for 2 to 3 weeks to acclimate before a standard tuning.
How much notice is required to schedule a piano or heavy item move?
We recommend scheduling 3 to 7 days in advance to reserve our heavy-item moving equipment and specialized crew. However, we also accommodate short-notice and emergency heavy moves when our schedule permits.
